Sub-meter billing that posts itself.
Note each flat’s reading. Rentio works out the units used, applies the right rate, and puts the charge on the right tenant’s ledger — electricity, water and gas.

The reading is all you enter.
Consumption is the difference from that meter’s last reading. Rentio holds the previous value per meter, so two sub-meters on the same flat never compute each other’s usage, and replacing a meter doesn’t corrupt the history.
Rates, including the flat that pays differently.
Set a rate for the building and override it for any unit. Rates are dated, so a mid-year revision applies from the day it took effect — older readings keep the rate they were billed at.
| Unit | Reading | Units | Amount | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1A | 4,460 from 4,318 | 142 | 2,130 | Charged |
| 1B | 2,993 from 2,905 | 88 | 1,320 | Charged |
| 2B Rate ₹13.50 (unit override) | 7,944 from 7,740 | 204 | 2,754 | Not billed |
| 3C Amount from provider's bill | 1,297 from 1,180 | 117 | 1,986 | Not billed |

Enter whatever figure you actually have.
Rentio derives whatever else it can and records which figure you gave it, so the arithmetic is always explainable later.
- The meter value, as you read it off the dial.
- The units used, when you know the consumption but not the position.
- The amount, straight off the provider’s bill — which is what you need the moment slabs, fixed charges and taxes are involved.
Recording is not billing.
A reading posts no charge on its own. You see what the span comes to, then post it as a separate step from a pre-filled form you can edit first. It is the last point at which the provider’s real number can replace the estimate — before a tenant sees it, rather than as a correction afterwards.
Late and out-of-order entries fix themselves.
Enter a reading you took last month and forgot to record, and every later reading on that meter is re-measured — with any charge already posted corrected, and an audit entry explaining why. If a correction would push a later span negative or touch a closed year, the whole insert is refused rather than half-applied.
Water and gas too.
Water charges carry the period they bill, so the register shows water paid up to which month and warns you about a gap or a duplicate. Gas works the same way.
Shared meters, split fairly.
For a common-area meter or a building bill — lift, cleaning, security — set how it divides across units and post a month at a time. The shares always add back exactly to the total, to the paisa. A vacant flat’s share is carried by you, never pushed onto the neighbours.
Stop keeping the meter register on paper.
